Mosquito Help in Hawaii
Kilauea Pest Control provides Oahu yard treatments for mosquito irradication. However, there are some things homeowners can do themselves to mitigate mosquito populations in their yards and homes. Some of these protections include:
Keep standing water off your property!
Keep rain gutters clean and in repair.
Replacing outdoor lights with yellow “bug lights” make your home less attractive to mosquitos and other bugs than standard white outdoor lighting.
Moist leaf litter and low ground that can stay moist is discouraged.
Anything that can hold water such as garbage cans may be drilled through to keep water from collecting.
Check screens around your home for holes and other areas that mosquitoes can access.
Keep grass mowed and weeds from sprouting up. Mosquitoes are not good flyers and are often looking for a plant to land on.
Many times the work you do to control mosquitoes on your property will not be enough. Many communities have city or county wide programs to help mitigate mosquito populations. Some US cities still use airplanes and foging trucks to distribute mosquito killing pesticides.
