There are a wide variety of moths in Honolulu, Hawaii. Most are harmless and add to the diversity and circle of life for other Hawaii pests. The giant Black Witch moth is a particularly impressive species that causes fear and delight in kamaaina and visitors of all ages.
Some moths in particular can cause real economic harm by destroying food, clothing, and rugs or other belongings.
The two moths that cause the most problems in Hawaii are the Clothes moth and the Indian Meal moth, a stored food product pest. Both of these pests can be monitored by special pheromone traps specific to their species, if you think that you have them or just want to monitor an area that may be more conducive to the location.
There’s more information available on our pages particular to these two pests, but regardless of the insect or pest, Kilauea is ready and willing to help with your pest control needs in Hawaii.
